Behind my handbags, more than a picture
Photography for me is a long-standing passion, perhaps the first spark of creativity that came to me when I was a little girl.
I used to go around with my camera around my neck for the countryside near my grandparents' house and I let my eyes be caught by a color, a detail. One of my favourite picture that I took in those days was about an old and rusty beer can that was on the top of a wood pole upside down along a country road.
That image caught my eye so I took the picture. But it was not like today, there were not digital cameras yet, my camera, an old Yashica, had the film inside and it took at least a week to develop the pictures from it.
But when I went to the shop and I had the printed pictures in my hands I felt very satisfied. Well, sometimes I wasn’t at all satisfied because it happened that the photos were not so good as I imagined, but THAT picture was exactly as I imagined when I saw the old and rusty beer can on the pole and I took it with my Yashica.
There was an emotion beside that picture and inside that picture and I could feel that emotion looking at the picture just like when I tooked it.
Today, when I take pictures of my canvas bags, I try to keep an emotion, I love to think that the picture can show the character of the handbags that I make, the idea that I have while I sew them. I usually take pictures for my shop with natural light, I try to make them always at the same time during the day, but I must say that today it's easier because you can edit photos directly from your desktop.
But that is another story.

La fotografia per me è una passione di lunga data, forse la prima scintilla di creatività che è scoccata in me quando ero ancora ragazzina.
Giravo con la macchina fotografica appesa al collo per le campagne vicino casa dei miei nonni e lasciavo che lo sguardo venisse catturato da un colore, un particolare. Mi ricordo che una delle mie foto preferite fatte a quei tempi raffigurava una vecchia, vecchissima lattina arrugginita messa a testa in giù sulla cima di un paletto di legno lungo una stradina di campagna, di quelli che si usavano per le recinzioni in filo spinato che dividevano una proprietà campestre dall'altra.
Naturalmente la mia piccola e amata Yashica, totalmente manuale, aveva il suo bel rullino dentro e dovevo aspettare almeno una settimana per vedere il risultato di quelle incursioni fotografiche.
La soddisfazione però era grande. E a volte anche la delusione lo era. Eh sì, perché su 24 pose totali non sempre tutte venivano come avevo immaginato.
Ma quella volta sì, la lattina arrugginita aveva svelato anche nella stampa la romantica sensazione di vecchio e vissuto che avevo provato nel momento dello scatto.
La fortuna di aver lavorato più di dieci anni nel mondo della fotografia ha sicuramente accresciuto le mie competenze, di questo sono grata.
Oggi quando scatto le foto delle mie borse cerco di non fare foto asettiche, mi piace l’idea che la foto trasmetta il carattere della borsa che ho realizzato, che ti faccia venir voglia di vivere le avventure che mi hanno ispirata nella creazione dei prodotti che trovi nel mio negozio online. Quando è possibile mi piace fotografarle all’aperto, e una costante è l’utilizzo di luce naturale, faccio le foto quasi sempre alla stessa ora del giorno per avere lo stesso tipo di luce. Non uso il flash, se non per fare esperimenti in casi del tutto eccezionali.
